1)Entry & Overview

The Insurance Golf League is open to male and female golfers working in the insurance industry who have reached their 18th birthday as at 03 May 2008 and are resident in the UK.

At registration players indicate whether they are a club member with a valid handicap or a non-handicap player.

Players then submit individual Stableford and Strokeplay scores achieved up to 31 October 2008. Handicap qualifying scores must be from competitions played in the UK and non-handicap qualifying scores can be from both within and outside of the UK.

Players registering before 11 July 2008 can submit scores achieved from 03 May, thereafter, scores will only be accepted if submitted within 14 days of date of play.

Prizes will be awarded on the basis of league position in the Handicap League and wild card draw in the Non-Handicap League.

The wild card draw means that irrespective of date of registration or league position, every player has a chance of winning.

All non-handicap qualifying scores will be subject to an automated handicap adjustment which can be viewed as a playing and handicap record.

The entry fee of £9.95 can be paid online at registration by debit / credit card or Paypal.

2) Score submission

Individual Handicap Qualifying and Non Handicap Qualifying, 18-hole Stroke and Stableford scores – no more than one on any single day, can be submitted.

2.1)Strokeplay Scores

The system will ask for the following information:

a) Gross strokes.

b) Current official playing handicap for handicap qualifying scores, or for non-handicap qualifying scores the system maintained handicap will automatically be applied.

c) CSS* for handicap qualifying scores and SSS for non handicap qualifying scores

The system then automatically calculates the net differential (net score).

* If CSS is not known at time of score submission, SSS can be entered, then in the event of a player qualifying for a prize the score will be checked with club handicap records and amended if necessary.

2.2) Stableford Scores & SSS/CSS

The system will ask for the following information:

a) Stableford points; based on handicap allowance in force for a handicap qualifying competition or full system maintained handicap for non-handicap qualifying scores

b) PAR

c) CSS* for handicap qualifying scores and SSS for non handicap qualifying scores.

The system then converts Stableford scores to a net stroke equivalent based on standard rules and practices. However, for the Insurance Golf League, 37 points will be deemed as equaling ‘level’. Note that for every stroke CSS is more than PAR net stroke equivalent improves by one stroke and for every stroke CSS is less than PAR net stroke equivalent worsens by one stroke.

* If CSS is not known at time of score submission, SSS can be entered, then in the event of a player qualifying for a prize the score will be checked with club handicap records and amended if necessary.
